ABOUT THE ROLE

Throughout Asia, GA Circular (GA) is working on pioneering, strategic projects to tackle one of the most important environmental challenges of our time – the waste epidemic in Asia and keeping packaging out of our environment. Recent efforts include creating first of their kind baseline studies in Asia, driving harmonisation of legislations and standards and creating industry coalitions to exponentially increase recycling in Asian countries. In order to succeed in the role, you will need to develop a strong domain knowledge of waste management and recycling industries for various packaging types specifically in a Southeast Asia context as well as wider Asia Pacific context. Prior experience of working alongside waste management or recycling industries is mandatory and a resolve to tackle the issue is a must.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Director (70% of time)

  • Directly drive the delivery of key strategic projects in the Asia region. This includes projects with clients across consumer goods, packaging, waste management and recycling industries as well as multilateral and government agencies
  • Responsible for developing and continuously improving on templates and processes to deliver GA Circular projects and products with the objective of increased efficiencies (i.e. project profitability) and effectiveness (i.e. higher client satisfaction scores) 
  • Understand the goals of our clients and GA Circular and align our people to these objectives, setting clear priorities and direction
  • Ensure projects are being delivered within pre-agreed timelines and budgets
  • Lead project teams covering all operational aspects including day-to-day problem solving, team management, client management, and bring in deep domain knowledge, expertise, and proprietary tools to every client situation.
  • Lead delivery to clients including oversight and completion of strategic decks, presentations and reports (internal to clients & externally published) 
  • Mentor and advise team members of GA Circular to strengthen their research and consulting abilities.
  • Influence clients, teams, and individuals positively. Leading by example and establishing confident relationships with senior project stakeholders.

 

Reporting: 

  • To senior management on a weekly basis. 

 

Business development (30% of time)

  • Develop a deep understanding GA Circular’s various product offerings and past and ongoing work in circular economy
  • Manage and develop strategic client relationships with existing and new clients
  • Drive revenue and growth measured by number of leads generated, proposal pipeline, new business closed, repeat business closed and existing client engagement against a baseline on these points
  • Drive the creation of new products that builds GA Circular’s offerings and thought leadership in the space of circular economy
  • Represent GA Circular at external conferences, events and speaking engagements

 

Reporting: 

  • To senior management on a weekly basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Urban Planning / Architecture, Statistics, Business or Finance
  • 6+ years of experience in management, environmental consulting, urban planning or in a research or data analytics role in business or government agencies. This 6+ years must include 2+ years of proven track record of managing and working alongside public and private sector stakeholders in waste management or recycling industries in a developing country in Asia
  • Excellent referrals from at least 2 previous clients or past employers
  • Capable and comfortable traveling throughout cities or locations in developing Asian countries to conduct research and meet with stakeholders
  • The right attitude, interpersonal and communication skills to work with and manage relationships with people of all backgrounds, from C-Level and senior management of multinationals to recycling workers
  • Evidenced passion and deep-seated aspiration to tackle environmental challenges.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual able to work in a dynamic and deliverables-oriented work environment
  • Proficiency in data analytics softwares
  • Strong English skills – verbal and written

 

PREFERRED

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Urban Planning / Architecture, Statistics, Business or Finance
  • Ability to design digital products / solutions to be used in waste management and recycling processes in developing countries
  • Proficiency in using Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides
