Throughout Asia, GA Circular (GA) is working on pioneering, strategic projects to tackle one of the most important environmental challenges of our time – the waste epidemic in Asia and keeping the packaging out of our waterways. Recent efforts include creating first of their kind baseline studies in Asia, driving harmonization of legislations and standards and creating industry coalitions to exponentially increase recycling in Asian countries. If you are inspired and motivated to tackle complex and intertwined environmental and business challenges towards making packaging circular, then consider joining our team. 


In order to succeed in the role, you will need to develop a strong domain knowledge of waste management and recycling industries for various packaging types specifically in a Southeast Asia context as well as a wider Asia Pacific context. Prior experience in waste management and the recycling industry is not mandatory, however, a resolve to tackle the issue is a must. Training will be provided by GA for subject matter knowledge.


We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong analytical and critical thinking skills and stakeholder (public and private sector) management skills for our research projects in Thailand. This role is based in Bangkok City and involves working on packaging research in collaboration with businesses and government.


The focus of the role includes liaising with businesses across the packaging, waste management, and recycling industries, government ministries and agencies, conducting in-depth surveys and data collection, supporting waste audits and creation of insights. The goal of the project is to create pioneering science-based research; provide insights, strategic recommendations, and measurable outcomes to significantly drive the circular economy in Thailand.



Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement (60%)

  • Drive delivery of projects on packaging waste and circular economy in Thailand, collaborating with a global financial institution and companies from packaging, waste management and recycling industries
  • Develop and lead stakeholder workshops on topics of packaging waste and circular economy with C-level executives from private sector and senior officials from government bodies
  • Lead operational aspects including day-to-day problem solving, stakeholder management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with various clients and stakeholders in private and public sector
  • Quantify and document project progress, including presentation of technical information and results achieved in the form of project reports
  • Position the projects as leaders in supporting Thailand in reducing marine litter and packaging waste


Field Research (40%)

  • Ensuring the quality of the data collected through the surveys is accurate and timely
  • In-depth field interviews of various stakeholders in the packaging value chain. This includes C-level executives and senior government officials
  • Assisting in questionnaire development in Thai and English and interpretation of field results


  • 5+ years of environmental consulting/management/research/strategy/data analytics experience in businesses, government agencies, NGOs or academia
  • 3+ years of proven track record of managing and working alongside public and private sector stakeholders in Thailand
  • The right attitude, interpersonal and communication skills to work with and manage relationships with people of all backgrounds
    (C-Level and senior management of multinationals to recycling workers)
  • Evidenced passion and deep-seated aspiration to tackle environmental challenges
  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual able to work in a dynamic and deliverables-oriented work environment
  • Capable and comfortable traveling throughout Bangkok and outer cities to conduct research and meet with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) 
  • Fluent in speaking and reading in Thai
  • Proficient in English – verbal and written



  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry), Engineering, Environment, Statistics, Business, Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in research on environmental sustainability topics – especially waste management or recycling. If you do not have waste management experience and/or circular economy understanding we would require you to take 1-2  short online courses before starting. 
  • Proficiency in using Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides
  • Excellent referrals from at least 1 previous client, past employers or professor
